Tink & Butch #2 (and extended cast!)

Posted by Edmund on February 15th, 2014 in Mew-Genics

Ah Tink and Butch! you so crazy!

so its been a while since i did an update, and for good reason... see we have been BUSY! mew has taken one final sharp turn in development and tommy has come up with a better way of doing the cats AI that should complement gameplay a hell of a lot more.. but i wont spoil anything. once its finished he plans on doing a video update explaining the cat AI in depth so ill leave that to him!

so most of you know the main cast of 6 characters (Baby Jack, Frank, Tink, Butch, Tracy and Dr.Beanies)... but did you know there are more plenty more freaks out there to interact with in the mewgenics world?... but they only appear on certain days.. some of them you only meet via letters...

Image

each day of the week (real time days) most of these new side characters will appear, and ask something of you.. or maybe offer you something? or maybe they will just help you break into the cat genetics lab? there is still a great deal about mewgenics we haven't talked about... but lets pace ourselves...

TILL NEXT TIME!

Who made the Poop!?

Posted by Edmund on January 18th, 2014 in Mew-Genics

The question of this caturday is... who made the poop!?

Image
Its a crazy mind puzzle that is a bit trickier than some might assume... can you figure it out?

i leave you with a screen shot from today's breeding tests, as you can see im a pretty impressive breeder.

Image

it took a while but i was able to breed a purebred "brick" cat using selective breeding methods. her mother's mother only had this texture on her tail. and as you might assume "Wooshy" can take quite a punch before she goes down!

sadly shes barren (yet pregnant?!).. the baby just isnt coming out!

The Miracle of Childbirth! CATURDAY STYLE!

Posted by Edmund on January 11th, 2014 in Mew-Genics

Well looky that, the 1st ever in game footage of mewgenics! well kinda.

Its been almost a year since we last worked on the foundation of mewgenics, cat breeding. now there is a lot to be said about the core aspect of this game.. but lets analyze the gif a bit first.

in the gif we see a very pregnant female cat giving birth to her first litter, the father watches with (very creepy) excitement as his children pop out of their mother. from this gif we can also see a bit of the fathers personality (his name was Manchester btw), he seems quite the horn dog and, since the mother (Dr. Butts) got pregnant after the 1st hump, there is a good chance hes quite a potent lover at that.

now lets look at the kittens. they are currently in "kitten form" (and change a bit when they "evolve" or grow up) but already we can see the genes from both parents are clearly at work here. the 1st kitten (Fanky II) seems to have his fathers head shape, body and tail, but its mothers body markings. it also seems like Fanky appears to be more of a pure bred texture wise than his mother, having her body markings on his head, torso, tail and ears... this is also considered pretty beautiful by cat pageant standards...obvi.

the rest is unknown in the gif, we dont know how the kitten will act, what it will look like when he grows up. his head, eyes and tail will changed when he hits puberty, his nose might appear and his voice may change... will he be a horn dog like his dad? or will his fathers creepy actions turn him off to sex completely! you never know.. only time will tell.

(spoiler, the kitten grows up and kills his father)

till next time!

PS: thanks to the tons of people who sent in their cat disease pics, they were quite awesome and some of you even predicted the future by drawing in diseases that actually exist in the game! i went through and RTed the best of them via my twitter! good work!

Help the Kitten!

Its time for a Mewgenics activity page! click the picture, print it out and show it off to your friends!

here is mine...

Aren't diseases cool!? some could say disease is this years evolution! i know dr. beanies would anyway... he collects them!

You arent the only hoarder in mewgenics, in fact almost everyone in Boone county seems to be just about as mentally broken as you and i! the Dr. collects diseased cats, Baby Jack collects cans, Tracy collects hairballs (they have souls you know!) and Frank collects doodie.. but not just any doodie.. specific rare and precious turds that bend the fabric of time itself! and if you are lucky some of those poops could contain even rarer diseases that (if consumed) could turn your cat into a turd himself!

but this is just a tease post, to learn more in depth about diseases you're gunna have to wait another week or so...

till then, print that page out and send in your diseased cats! (@supermeatboy)

Dirty Mittens!

Posted by Edmund on December 28th, 2013 in Mew-Genics

Its Caturday! and time for another Mewgenics update!

This week its time to talk again about the soundtrack, ill start you off with a little track called Dirty Mittens.

You can download the full track Here, along with the last track "The Ballad of D. Claude" on the Ridiculon Bandcamp Page.

These are just 2 of over 12 fully produced "jukebox" tracks that intertwine with the rest of the games soundtrack. they change with the weather, so when it starts to rain it will cue up the slow moody tracks, or when it gets really hot the more fast paced tracks appear.

Im quite blown away by how great of a job Matthias and John have done on this album, its by far the most listenable album ive heard from a game since Katamari and just about as nutty.

For those of you who missed our 1st soundtrack announcement, here is a video that will update you on exactly who these guys are and where you might know them from.

Chew on that!

Cat Identity!

Posted by Edmund on December 14th, 2013 in Mew-Genics

So earlier we talked in depth about furniture and how items can stat pad cats as well as change many other elements of how the game plays... but we didnt really talk much about cat identity.

when a kitten is born its assigned a few cat types based on its stats, there is a large range of cat types from lazy to sexy, from passive to psychotic. each cat type comes with its own set of animations, moves and other visual effects, but most important is that they also effect how the cat behaves.

cat types can stack many ways and effect many things but none of those elements involve a cat with a mustache so im going to get right to it.

This cat has a mustache.

Image

why you ask? well because this cat identifies as a hipster.

there are literally 100s of pieces of furniture your cats can identify with when born but the ones that effect them the most are "furniture sets". these large items tend to be the foundation of your house, where you place things and where the cats are fed/sleep/die and its these sets that bring the most influence over what the cat identifies as.

there are a few types of identity that are represented by a little hat icon.

Image

"hats" - these appear on cats head and faces. mustaches, wigs, glasses and parasites.

Image

"costumes" - these appear on the cats bodies. ties, capes, chickens and boards with nails sticking out.

hats and costumes both stat pad cats, but they arent stored in the cats DNA so they cant be bred, inbred identity is a lot less common and comes with its own set of challenges.

less common items may hold the rare chance that a cat can identify so much with it, it will actually acquire some element of that item as a piece of its body.

Image

lets take Duffy here for instance, he obviously really identifies with that VHS tape.

Image

or Rooster there, hes obviously a huge SMB fan and really loves that SMB plush we just got him.

this type of "mutation" is quite rare, but if the item in question is also rare your chances of mutation are doubled, but once it happens, it sticks and you now have the ability to breed that mutation into your kitten community.

and as ive said before, each mutation or costume comes with its own stat padding, so you could possibly birth an aggressive cat from a passive family because all that rap music coming out of your ghetto blaster! then utilize that change in behavior to breed a new strand of hyper aggressive kittens that are very into gangster rap then storm the cat fights with your epic army of thugged out pussy.

Image

but what if it wasnt the rap music that made the cat in question aggressive? what if it was actually its brain tumor? you think you could find a way to breed out the negative effects of the tumor but keep the psychopathic tendencies? find out some other caturday when we talk about birth defects and genetic diseases!

till next time!
